Description |
Tree, c. 30 m tall. Trunk canaled, radius varying from 0 to 45 cm (largest diam. 90 cm), with small bruttresses. Leaflets leathery, above glossy, dark green, beneath dull, pale green. Pedicel red. Calyx red. Petals outside greenish-yellow and with a reddish top, inside dirty yellow to greenish-yellow. Filaments greenish-yellow. Anthers brownish-yellow. Discus filled with white hairs. Style greenish-yellow. Stigma purple-red. Ovary pale red. Young fruits red. Flowers fragrant (after Lonicera). Young leaflets pale reddish green above, beneath pale purple. Bark greyish-brown. Most outer edge of living bark green, slash cream-white except for inner living bark which is lemon yellow. Wood whitish. |
